| 1. Your Personal information and the Data Protection Act 1998 |
| Self Certification Mortgages will provide your information to relevant third parties such as mortgage lenders and the providers of Term Assurance policies in order to achieve your various requirements. We will treat all your information as confidential, even when you are no longer a client and (unless we are required to do so by law) will not disclose any such information except where a disclosure is made at your request or with your consent. |
| Where necessary you consent to our processing 'sensitive data' (for example data relating to your health) for the above purposes. |
| Self Certification Mortgages use the information you provide for the purposes of administration, to source your mortgage, marketing and to analyse your purchasing preferences. |
| Where necessary we will disclose information to our agents, product providers, regulatory bodies. |
| 2. The Mortgage Code |
| Self Certification Mortgages is registered as a Mortgage Intermediary with the Mortgage Code Compliance Board and we subscribe to The Mortgage Code issued by the Council of Mortgage Lenders. Copies of the Code are available by contacting the Code Compliance Officer at our head office address in the Contact Details section of this site. Alternatively details about the Mortgage Code are available by accessing the Mortgage Code Compliance Board website. |
| The Mortgage Code applies to all mortgage lending to personal customers on a property in the United Kingdom, except for overdrafts and loans under £25,000 for purposes other than house purchase. |
| There are three different levels of service offered under the Mortgage Code. These are: |

Advice and recommendation as to which of the mortgages available from the market are the most suitable for you. |

b. |
Information on the different types of mortgage products on offer so that you can make an informed choice of which to take. |

c. |
Information on a single product only, if only one mortgage product is offered or if you have already made up your mind. |

| The only mortgage business we transact will be under option (b). We may facilitate business for you offering service at level (c). Before you take out a mortgage through us we will confirm, in writing, the level of service given. |
| Self Certification Mortgages is not tied to any lender and can provide you with information on mortgages from the whole mortgage market. |
| 3. Complaints |
| In the event that you have a complaint, this will be dealt with in accordance with the complaints procedures we have set up for mortgage business. Your complaint should be addressed to the Code Compliance Officer at our head office address 23 Church Street Welwyn Herts AL6 9LW. |
| In the unlikely event you are unhappy with the mortgage advice you have received, Self Certification Mortgages subscribes to the Mortgage Code Arbitration Scheme for resolving certain complaints.
